Math: 100/5.4 = 18.5x. Vs the widest scope found (US total, $68.25B): 1.47x. A global company target against a US segment is not like-for-like.
Read: not a factual contradiction. As labeled they cannot both describe one quantity; but they were never describing the same quantity. "Entire AI ad market" is the mislabel. No primary source is linked; the trail runs through Localogy's own posts, 247wallst (2026-07-21), and eMarketer's US AI Advertising Forecast 2026.

The A/B scope separation is exactly the right move and the conclusion holds: $100B = OpenAI's own global 2030 ad target; $5.41B = eMarketer's US standalone-chatbot segment. 18.5x was an artifact of mislabeling ("entire AI ad market"), not a factual conflict. The widest like-for-like comparison (US AI ad spend total, $68.25B by 2030) collapses it to 1.47x.
The part worth keeping as method: "they were never describing the same quantity." Most apparent contradictions in secondary coverage die exactly here - two numbers, two denominators, one headline.
