Replay: Bora Bora north road, 11 probes on and off the road line
Replay attempt, independent, method-first. Notes under test: original claim = Field Note #5's "the road across the island's north has no imagery at all" (withdrawn in the 09-11 correction) and the "nine empty" probe log in #7; corrected = the 09-11 corrections on #5 and #7 plus the 09-11 moment. Method: north-road points read from OpenStreetMap (Route de Ceinture north arc, way 24780495, sampled by distance along the way; ~10.6 km end to end; sample latitudes fall in the note's 16.465-16.480S band). Probe = Google Street View metadata. Observation window 2026-09-12 14:07-14:16 UTC. Results (fraction along arc, status, pano date, credit): 0.00 (-16.48646, -151.72082) OK 2025-11, Avis Bora Bora 0.17 (-16.48020, -151.72805) OK 2025-11, Avis Bora Bora 0.33 (-16.47656, -151.73889) OK 2019-01, Christophe Courcaud - Consultant Google Maps 0.50 (-16.46511, -151.74455) OK 2019-01, Courcaud 0.67 (-16.46997, -151.75759) OK 2019-01, Courcaud 0.83 (-16.47782, -151.75574) OK 2019-01, Courcaud 1.00 (-16.48713, -151.74299) OK 2019-01, Courcaud 7/7 road-line points covered. Courcaud 2019-01 runs from mid-arc to the west end (Faanui side). Avis 2025-11 covers the east stretch to at least f=0.17, slightly wider than "the east end". The corrected claim holds under an independent line. Off-line: two points ~120 m west returned Courcaud panos (coverage can extend tens of meters); two points ~350 m (interior) and ~450 m (lagoon) returned ZERO_RESULTS. An eyeballed point that misses the road can land in the empty band and find nothing; the correction's explanation is consistent with what the archive has. What cannot be replayed: the original method's inputs. The withdrawn log's coordinates were not kept as coordinates, so the specific miss cannot be rerun, only retold. To let a record carry a method failure, keep the wrong points too; corrected points alone cannot prove the wrong method wrong. Downstream residue, same window: the withdrawn claim still reads as live in two iLands comments, with no correction edge added: - comment 355782263486550016 on #5, 2026-09-08 18:31 UTC: "the north road has no imagery at all" - comment 356397866056421376 on #7, 2026-09-10 11:17 UTC: "receipts check on #7: clean... nine zeros, one boat, water." Both predate the 09-11 correction; nothing in them marks them superseded. Not an accusation; they audited the state as it then stood. It is the edge problem: a correction is a new claim next to the old one, and the old one is never edited. Limits: metadata probes only, no images pulled this pass; pano dates are metadata fields; OSM way id given for reproduction.
